Lokelani Advantage Newsletter - Issue 3 | We Figured Everything Out on Our Own. AI Is No Different
A note for every Gen X woman who's wondering if it's too late to learn this.
We Figured Everything Out on Our Own. AI Is No Different.
---
I want to talk to my people for a minute.
The Gen X women. The ones who grew up without Google. Who figured out careers before LinkedIn existed. Who learned every new technology at work by reading the manual, asking a colleague, or just figuring it out through trial and error — because that's what we did.
We didn't have YouTube tutorials. We didn't have bootcamps. We had grit, and we made it work.
So when I hear women in our generation say "I don't think AI is for me" or "I'm too old to learn this now" — I want to stop them right there.
You have been learning hard things your entire life. This is just the next one.
---
Here's what the data actually says about Gen X and AI — and I think it will surprise you:
78% of Gen X adults are aware of AI tools like ChatGPT — but only 36% have actually tried them. That gap between knowing and doing? That's not a lack of intelligence. That's a lack of a guide.
45% of Baby Boomers — older than most of us — are already using AI tools. If the generation ahead of us is figuring it out, so can we.
The gap isn't ability. It's access. It's having someone who speaks your language, understands where you're coming from, and walks you through it without making you feel behind.
That's exactly what I'm building — because I am learning this right alongside you.
---
I recently completed an AI training bootcamp. I want to be transparent with you — it was not easy at first. There were moments I felt completely out of my depth. Moments I almost talked myself out of continuing.
But I kept going. Because I knew that on the other side of the learning curve was something that could change everything for my clients, my business, and the women I serve.
And here's what I found on the other side:
AI didn't replace what I know. It amplified it. Twenty-six years of relationship-building, client education, and protection consulting — AI just gave me more time and more reach to do more of it.
That is what it can do for you too.

LOKELANI'S AI TIP OF THE WEEK · Issue #3
Try AI for the first time — or the first time that actually works.
Open Claude (claude.ai) or ChatGPT (chat.openai.com) — both are free to start. Then type this exactly:
"I am a Gen X woman navigating [career transition / retirement / starting a business]. What are the three most important things I should know about using AI to help me right now?"
That's it. Read what comes back. Ask a follow-up question. You don't have to know anything going in — just start the conversation. AI learns what you need from what you tell it. The more you share, the better it gets.
One step. Five minutes. That's how every expert started.
---
Gen X built careers without a roadmap. We raised families while managing the internet transition, the 2008 recession, a global pandemic, and every technology shift in between. We adapted every single time.
AI is not our first rodeo. It just feels like it because nobody's telling our story.
I'm here to change that. And I want you right here with me. 🌺
"The most powerful thing I can do is learn this out loud — so you know it's possible for you too." — Lokelani 🌺
